graphic warning: what is this? a keloid? help.

okay so a few years ago, i decided i would gauge my ears (bad idea) and now i am left with the lovely growth :) it does NOT cover my actual "earring hole", therefore i can still wear earring. but when i lay on my right side part of this "thing" gets flat, it'll randomly bruise, and constantly has dead skin on it. over the past few years it has somewhat grew & changed shape. has anybody had anything similar? & have any suggestions on how to cure it. & please don't say "go chop it off" it's not that simple lol.
