When the husband

Question

Asked me if his mom has gotten anything for the baby and I told him no all she did was make the babyshower cake. He had asked her to make the baby a blanket but we haven't heard anything about it. And then when I do hear from her it's just to see when my appointments are other then that she always talks about the rest of the sons that are over 30 that live with her. I am not even mad that she hasn't gotten anything for my baby I'm mad that she already puts him last like she puts my husband. And now I don't expect anything from that family. When my side has gone above and beyond to help me make sure baby boy has everything he needs.

The baby is yours not hers. She should not have to buy anything.

You sound a bit ungrateful. Making a cake for your shower was a nice thing to do, not something you just expect from a MIL. If she noticed your ungratefulness then, that probably explains why she didn't make the blanket. Even though, blankets take a lot of time to make, but she still obviously has time. Seems like you just look for things to gripe about.

This has too stink. But I've learned from personal experience with my kids and grandparents, you can't make someone do something for you. We have gotten to the point that we don't asked certain members of our families to do anything dealing with our children. Like making a blanket, if she isnt showing interest in it, ask someone else to make a blanket. My kids have blankets made by a close family friend rather than a family member. My husband's dad hasn't even met his almost 2 year old grand daughter. But after missing most of my 4 yr old life and all of my daughter's, he has decided it needs to change and he is making the move to come out when baby 3 gets here. It stinks but she will start to realize she is the one missing out and things will change. If she doesn't, then she doesn't need to be a big part of the baby's life. Why would you want someone in the baby's  life who looks at your child as an option? I hope things get better.

I understand where you're coming from 100%. Yes it's your child and no no one shouldn't have to buy anything. Aside from that, if she offered she should fulfill what she said she was going to do. I had this issue with my MIL...She told us not to worry about buying the baby's dresser because my mom was buying the crib and she wanted to be apart of things. Also she said she would pick and pay for the venue for the babyshower because she saw my mom doing everything else. At the end of the day when it came down to it, she procrastinated with the venue and all places were booked and my mom ended up buying both the crib and dresser because she felt that she wanted to buy it after the baby was born. Made no sense. lol I just appreciated my mom for her help and never expected anything from his mom. She also put him last to his two sisters growing up and till this day.

I think maybe you're expecting too much. Also, not sure how she was making the blanket. But I knit and crochet and blankets are time consuming. Frustratingly so. She might not be done with it yet or just doesn't even have the time to devote to begin with. 
If people offer to do things for you or give gifts freely that's wonderful, but I wouldn't expect anyone to do things.
