What do you think about naming your kid with a nickname

Using Abby instead of Abigail,  Lexi instead of Alexis, or Allie instead of Allison. 
My daughter will be named Allie Rose. My husband keep thinking that's weird. I love the name and I think that doesn't make any sense name her with a name that I will never use.

I actually prefer it if that's what you'll be calling the kid, versus giving the child a name they'll never use....as long as the name isn't too juvenile sounding. I like your names.

My cousin' name is Abby, not Abigail. I think it's perfectly fine to name them with a nickname.

My daughter is going to be Ellie, sure there's a few different "proper" names we could choose, but she's gonna be called Ellie exclusively so why go with a longer name? My 9 year old on the other hand is Abigail, But I never planned on, and still don't call her Abby, and I correct people when they do because her name is Abigail lol.

My sister just had a baby about 3 weeks ago and she really wanted to use Zoë as a first name but her husband said that it was going to sound childish when she was an adult. So, they went with Violette Zoë and everyone just calls her by her middle name. Violette is only used at the doctor's office.

I think it depends on the specific name. My whole family calls me Lexi but I'm glad that isn't my full name because I go by Alexa at work. I'm glad I don't have to introduce myself as Lexi because it sounds too little kiddish to me.

But I know people named Addie not Addison. Becky not Rebecca. Mandy not Amanda. If it's a name they can use for life, then by all means go for it! If it's something you think they may not want to be called as an adult, use the full name.

I always wished my parents would have just named me Mandy instead of Amanda!! No one has ever called me by my full name, so what was the point?!

My name is Rebecca and most people growing up called me beckey. Since being older I've moved more to becca.
