How soon until I can kiss my man again?!? HELP

I'm 19 and a CNA while I go to nursing school.
I was doing blood sugar and insulin and the patient gave me the pricker and it prickes me. This has never happened before and I am sooo embarrassed.
I have to go to the ER after my shift is done at 10 pm. It was a 12 hour shift for me today.
I can get workers comp so that's good.
What should I expect at the hospital?
How many viles of blood to they take?
Do they hook me up to IV?
How long until the test results come back?
What do they all test me for?

You should ask your dr when you get seen.

It depends. They'll take a vial or two of blood to test for HIV and what not,.but it can take 6 months to a year for HIV to develop, so you'll have to go back at 3 months, 6 months, and a year for blood draws and retests again. Did your work ask the patient if he/she was clean? Legally, they don't have to answer, but sometimes it's nice of get a heads up.

I worked an an Emt in the ER and we were draining someone's cyst and it went into my eye. I got the labs back within a week. The protocol is to test again in one year. I was clean both times. Try not to worry.

They usually test your blood and the patients blood for STDs like HIV and Hepatitis. They may give you prophylactic medicine but I am not sure as I have never gotten a stick from a dirty needle. You will be fine, this happens a lot in the medical field and they know exactly how to prevent any spreading of diseases. You just have to be careful next time.
