first time period sex??

Hi guys! So I am going to see my boyfriend in May and it'll be the first time we've had sex (because it's so long distance and we never had the time alone when he was home). And of COURSE the ONLY time I could fly up there in due to be on my period the whole time 🙃. Has this happened to anybody else? What should I do? Because I don't want our first time to be gross. (Please tell me there's a glimmer of hope somewhere)
