Blood in breast milk?!?!??

Last week I came down with hand foot and mouth from my baby who got it at daycare. It was BRUTAL. As I'm finally starting to come out of it yesterday, I start having breast pain (both sides) and I think shit, it's in my boobs. 

breastfeeding has become excruciating. At the start the pain is ridiculously intense and then it calms after a few minutes of screaming and crying out, with certain sucks here and there making me scream again but otherwise I can tolerate the pain. 

Well earlier today my baby was nursing and once we got through the worst of the pain he pulled off frustrated and crying. This happened a few times this weekend. So I sit him up and look at him and pat his back. He had a tiny spit up with his burp that had blood in it. It freaked me out! He hasn't shown any distress so I don't think it came from him, I think given my symptoms it came from me. I wasn't able to find any blood when pumping both sides immediately after.

Can cracked nipples do that? What could be going on? I have no fever, my boobs aren't red, hot, or anything. Nipples are just super sore when not nursing. Anyone have any ideas?
