Help!! when does the pain go away?! 😭

My baby is 9 days old and the last 2-3 days it hurts SOOOO bad when she laches on. Is this normal??? And when will it go away?!

I've tried different positions and those postitions hurt more than just doing the traditional cradle hold.

I def felt discomfort for the first 2 weeks or so- but I wouldn't call it painful...maybe her latch is off? Watch some YouTube videos on proper latch to make sure that any causing the problem!

I'm also a fan of seeing a certified Lactation consultant to tweak all issues with BF

Your nipples are sensitive. The second week was rough for me but I kept applying nipple cream or coconut oil and let them air out. The third and fourth week will get better just make sure baby has a good latch each time or it will worsen.

Also check for am infection (bacterial or yeast) - they can cause pain even if the latch is good and you didn't have any pain previously. Google the signs, but redness or burning sensation is probably worth checking out.

I'm at exactly 2 weeks today. I was having the worst pain as well until about two or three days ago. The thing that helped me the most was redoing his latch. I thought the latch was good, but I had my husband help me retrain his latch and literally that day there was no pain...that was 3 days ago. Now we're breastfeeding like a champ.

I literally broke down crying in frustration and now we're doing great. You should definitely seek some help to ensure the latch is okay.

I was in so much pain the first three weeks I would cry out. Now at 3 months I don't have any pain at all. Does the football hold help? It sometimes helped for him to latch at a different angle. Hang in there it does get easier! This is a skill both of you have to work at.
