HPV??

I'm adding this anonymously and won't respond to replies because I'm just too scared.. I got told at my last Dr visit that I have hpv. My Dr said it could go away on its own but if it was still there at my next annual that they would do testing.. I'm so scared. My annual is in August this year. I know nothing about hpv. Could it turn into something deadly? Am I sick? I've always been careful when it comes to sex. I thought I was careful enough but now all I want to do is cry because I failed when it comes to my sexual health. Does anyone know anything about it?

Practically every sexual active woman gets it. It doesn't necessarily come from sex. Don't freak. Do a little research on it. It should ease your mind. Watch Amy Woos stand up on Netflix. Very funny. She like 8 months pregnant in the one I'm talking about.

HPV is very common, don't feel ashamed. If your doctor isn't concerned it's probably just another harmless type. It usually takes a couple years to go away so try not to panic.

yup i had it n had to get a procedure for cells to b biposied.  luckily it was nothin. mine went away. havent seen anything in 10 yrs

I have HPV. I found out in December 2015 and got retested at my annual in December 2016. The strain I have is treatable but will most likely go away on its own. I have to get retested again next December to find out if anything has changed. HPV is from skin contact. Literally everybody, both men and women, have HPV "dormant" in their bodies. It's just a matter of who you come in contact with sexually that can trigger it. I got the HPV vaccine when I was 14 and it's highly recommend for boys and girls starting at age 11 as it covers a whole bunch of different strains of HPV and it's a series of 3 vaccines spread out over like 4 or 5 months, I don't remember the exact time period. But it's just like the flu shot...there are strains that are resistant to the vaccine. Even with protection from the vaccine and using condoms if you're sexually active there's always a risk. If left untreated and it's a strain that isn't covered from the vaccine then it can potentially turn into cervical and ovarian cancer, but like I already said, most of the time it's completely treatable and goes away on its own. You should definitely get retested at your annual and don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions! There's nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. If you wanna have sex, definitely use condoms but if I was you I'd talk to my doctor before any sexual activity, especially if you have more than one partner. It's so common and usually nothing to worry about. Mine went away on its own in 2 months. Don't stress over it right now

It sounds like the dr thinks it just looks like hpv at this point but I think they should've tested you for it. Once it's there, it's for life(unless a cure is found), regardless of if clinical symptoms go away. Even if it looks like it's gone at your next annual, I think you should still request they test for it. And please, I don't want to scare you but feel the need to mention it, it's linked to cervical cancer which is why it'd be best to request the test so you can have paps annually. Idk where you're located but in the US they changed the Pap guidelines from annually to every 3 years unless otherwise necessary & hpv would make it otherwise necessary. Please don't get down on yourself, hpv is very common. An estimated 75% have it and it's common to have it and not see it. Not all strains result in warts. Just try and relax and ask your dr any questions. You are so not alone in this. Keeping up with your annuals are all part of preventative care

Don't ever feel bad for something that isn't your fault. The guy was at fault for failing to tell you about the HPV (also symptoms mostly happens on girls). HPV can cause genital warts & also some part of it can cause cervical cancer but you shouldn't worry about it now and keep going to your doctors for check-up. I know it's hard and you're feeling lost. HPV does go away and there's a vaccine that you can take (ask your dr about it) to prevent certain HPV that cause cervical cancer. I'm not an expert on it and could only provide information based on what I know. But my advice is talk to your doctor about it. Don't be afraid and try to face it. wishing you all the best here!

Don't feel bad my uncle who was a virgin until he married a a woman when he was 37 and turns out she had HPV because she wasn't careful in the past and didn't tell him. He was careful and shit happens.
