Infant and puppy acclamation

My baby is 7 weeks old and I have a bulldog, he is 1 yr and 4mths. Before the dog met my baby, i brought a onesis she wore for him to know her scent.

I need help getting him to be gentle towards her....i havent seen aggressive behavior from him, it appears to be more curiosity about her.

I want them to be close but I am afraid he doesnt know his strength and how fragileshe is. I see so many pictures of infants woth the family dog and I want to know the secret..

When i am holding my baby on the couch he will sniff her feet, which i allow, then he jumps up and sniffs he, which i allow, but then he tries to scratch her . I pop his nose and tell him "no" and "get down". Sometimes if my sister is standing up and holding my baby the dog will jump up on her leg.
