Nephrologist?

I'm at a higher risk of pre-eclampsia due to being type 1 diabetic, so my doctor had me complete a 24-hour urine sample.  The results came back that my proteins are elevated and she's referring me to a Nephrologist.  Does anyone have any experiences with similar situations they can share?  I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow and haven't had any complications thus far.   Thanks!
