careers
So I'm 18 and going to be going to University this coming fall, I graduate high school in two months. For the past two years I've wanted to be a surgeon, however I'm terrible at math and upon taking the Accuplacer for my college, I scored so low I have to take high school, basic level math in college. I've decided I'm better off majoring in something not math heavy like medical or engineering (my second career choice), as math has never been my strong point and I almost didn't graduate on time because of it. ANYWAYS I'm just unsure of what career to do or even what major to choose. I'm interested in working either in the Fashion or Movie/TV industry. I've always had an interest in script writing and directing. On the flip side, I could also see myself interested in journalism (writing for a fashion magazine perhaps), or even PR for a fashion brand or magazine office. My question is, how did you decide what to major in? What career you wanted? Is it normal to be so lost and unsure? I don't want to have to change majors 10000 times my freshman year of college, not having a set plan or idea of what I want scares me ngl. I'm worried about not having time to figure it out or, what if I get a degree in something and then once it comes time to start working in that field I hate it? And I just wasted all that time in money? How did you find your place in the world? How did you find the career that was right for you? All this college and career and major talk going on has been making me feel so out of depth because everyone else my age seems to have it figured out.
