induction for 2nd child?

Dr said she would want to induce me at 39 weeks with my second child since my first labor was vaginal & went well and this pregnancy is going great so far. Has anyone else done this? How is it being induced; with second child?

I wouldn't without a medical reason. There are risks and side effects to every intervention. Also labor typically goes better and quicker when the baby is ready and you're not forcing it out... 39 wks is also barely full term, so there's a higher chance of immaturity if you're off at all on your dates.

Induction really increases the risk of further interventions and needing a c-section. If it isn't medically needed for the baby's safety of yours, I wouldn't do it.

My mom started getting induced with later babies because they would come faster than Dad had time to park the car. All healthy pregnancies and babies. No c-sections either.

I got induced at 36 weeks due to preeclampsia.It went fine but I hope i go into labor on my own with my second.I'm 31 weeks and 3 days.Good luck:)

I was induced with my first at 40 weeks then my second at 39 weeks. I was dilating fine on my own but my contractions weren't real regular until I was started on pitocin. Both inductions went really well. I'm due in 10 weeks with number 3 and am hoping to go into labor on my own.
