bleeding?

I just went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a little blood. Def looked like period color and I had a little cramping but I do every morning and it goes away so I didn't think anything of it. I'm 34.2 weeks. I called the dr and they said if it gets worse to head to L&D but this is my 4th child and never had this issue, all I've heard is either preterm labor or something worse. Does this just happen sometimes? Is it normal?
