PP period, maybe?

I'm currently 5 weeks pp. I started birth control almost a week ago and yesterday I got what seems to be my period. I'm exclusively pumping also. I guess my question is, is it an actual period, or the birth control? Should I call my doctor? I'm obviously a ftm lol. Any info would be great. Can't seem to find what I'm looking for online. Thanks!

Could be either. If you're worried, dont hesitate to call your doctor. Everyone starts their pp period at different times, even when you breastfeed. I mainly breastfed my boys and didn't get my first period until 10 months pp, but some get theirs right away even while breastfeeding or pumping.

I guess it depends on how long you bleed for and how heavy the flow is. I was ebf my first baby and got my period at 8w pp. Second baby i was ebf and period came at 6w pp
