How painful is breastfeeding and what can help with the pain?

I really want to breast feed at least for the first few weeks, how painful is it really and what can help with the pain🙊

I have no pain threshold 😂

It's only for the first week that it's a little painful. Unless the latch is wrong then it's really painful for however long it takes to correct it or to heal from the bad latch.  I used my milk as an ointment and it helped me a lot!  They also have nipple shields that can help.  It also depends on how important breastfeeding is to you.

I didn't experience any pain. Everyone is different. The key is making sure baby has aereola in mouth and not only your nipple

It was fairly uncomfortable for the first week, but then got better really quickly. After about two weeks I was perfectly fine. Even at its worst it wasn't unbearable. As others have said: just made sure the latch is ok (do talk to an expert, it's really useful) and use nipple cream. 
Also consider getting a pump - if it gets really uncomfortable you can pump and give yourself time to heal. We started giving once feed per day per bottle when my daughter was a week old and it hasn't impacted her breastfeeding at all (and helped me sleep a sufficient amount).

I thought it was more uncomfortable than painful, as long as the latch was good. When the latch was bad, I got bruises! I used a nipple balm and tried different size shields with my pump, which also helped to keep me from getting too sore. If you can stick with it for a couple of weeks, it will get better. And if all of the health benefits for baby aren't enough to convince you, let me just say the calorie burn is AWESOME!!!

My daughter had a bad latch which is common in the beginning and my nipples hurt pretty dang bad tbh.. These helped:

Painful the first month or two.  I've been using a perfectly posh healer stick it helps me so much I wish I had found it sooner.  (My current pain is due to a latch issue)

It was very painful for me for about 3 weeks w my first. Use nipple cream. W my second I had zero pain. I'm not sure if it was beciase of the child or beciase I had done it before. Just get through the first 2-3 weeks and then the pain goes to zero, it becomes second nature and doesn't hurt anymore.

Depends on baby and the latch my son was tounge tied so my nipples where destroyed but I stuck to it 6 months strong 🙌🏻 you can do it! There are nipple creams and nipple guards that help a little it's more of a mental thing it's constant them wanting to eat at such a young age and doing it sleep deprived is hard. I had more of a difficult time with than than I did with the pain I also go mastitis and clogged ducts a long rough journey but it's an amazing bond as well ❤
