why am I so scared of being home alone?

Ever since I was a kid I never stayed at home on my own (after dark) if I did I'd wait st the door until someone came home I'm a nervous wreck to stAy at home on my own still to this day and I have a 8 week old baby .my fiancé works until 12 every second week .  Every noise or sound and I jump up and head to the front door. Why am I still like this? I'm 29 I'm Obv not happy I'm still like this. I'm just nervous as soon as it gets dark to be alone. And I've never had a bad exp with anything it's just the way I've always been :( how can I overcome this problem it makes me unhappy

When i stay at home alone , i play some music or always watch tv or do fb or whatsapp , just pass your time , if u will sit simply you will listen diffrent diffrent sounds even no one is thr.. so better listen some good music or funny videos on youtube ot just call someone or chat..always divert your mind and dont think you r alone.

I used to have a lot of anxiety about being home along at night with my kids and not my husband. I had bad experiences as a kid of people breaking into my childhood home. I bought a gun and became proficient at using it. Now I sleep with it by my bed and I sleep like a baby.

It sounds like you would benefit from therapy and possibly an anxiety med to take PRN

I've always been this way too and it's especially worse now that I'm pregnant. Crazy paranoia.
My SO is actually job hunting now so he can quit his current job which requires him to work night shift.

I've always been that way too. My husband just went out of town and my mother is coming to stay with me at night so I'm not alone. I don't care how old I am! They were also wanting me to not be alone in case something were to happen and I got sick or something like that. It's all in our heads.

I was always that way at the house I grew up in, which I lived in for 27 years. After I moved I don't really have that problem anymore in the new house even though it's much bigger. Im not sure why, but I get where you're coming from. It's a weird paranoid feeling.
