i watch my nephew during the week, and he's about 16 months old, and the more i watch him the more i notice he's not extremely developed compared to other children i see... he still doesn't walk completely right, he doesn't say any words besides mama, he also doesn't babble a whole lot, you can call his name 20 times and he won't even turn to look at you, if you point at stuff he won't look in th direction, and just other things like that.. do you guys believe hes not completely there? i don't mean this in a mean way either, i'm generally concerned and his parents don't think any things wrong with how he is... he's also fallen off the bed a lot and even busted his lip once or twice but they never took him in to the doctor so i feel like that is part of the reason why too..

I don't think he would be considered developmentally delayed yet - for the unstable walking and lack of words.  There is a pretty wide range for normal for walking and talking.

The thing I would be concerned about is not responding to his name.  That could indicate a hearing issue (which could also possibly impact talking and balance).

Maybe they know? I mean if you realize it, I'm sure his parents do. Honestly I don't think it's your business. They have a doctor who will point it out if necessary.

Every kids different my children at that age count talk and potty train by 20 months i start at 18  people think thats to early but they be fully train and no force just work

Depends he might have a disability or if his parents don't give much attention that can cause it.  I would bring it up to them though

It's a really sensitive subject to bring up to parents. If they've brought him in for checkups with his pediatrician and the doctor doesn't think it's cause for concern, then I would either. But I'm not sure what those parents have done yet with their kid. If you bring it up to them, it may end very badly. I don't know if there's really anything you can do. Sorry I'm not much help.

Technically he wouldn’t be delayed unless he still wasn’t walking after 18 months. Also falls from the bed usually aren’t high enough to cause serious damage, especially if it was the front/back of his head that he hit as those are the hardest parts of the skull. His PCP I’m sure would’ve brought something up with the parents if they had concerns. And maybe something was brought up but the parents haven’t shared it with you yet.

TBH hard to tell my son didn't walk till he was 19 months and didn't talk till he was closer to 3 he didn't have an interest in any thing I wanted to do with him.. when I took him for testing he had to get tubes in his ears he had fluid trapped behind his ear drums...

I would mention it,  but parents can be very sensitive about it. My daughter is borderline autistic, so I'm very aware of symptoms to watch for. My nephew has every single text book autism symptom and much much stronger than my daughters. However they live in a very poor town with very minimal supportive services. When I mentioned to them that he should be evaluated, they got very defensive and said I think every kid has it because mine does. I mean their kid is non verbal at almost 4 and has no idea anyone else is around him. So something isn't right, but they refuse to do anything extra than what the state pays for.
