Hemorrhage in the OR

Pcolatiff • Wife, Nurse. 🌈 born Dec ‘18. Oops due Jan ‘23.
I am a new OR nurse and 7 weeks pregnant. Today an emergent case arose from the ER- a woman had given birth a month ago but was now hemorrhaging. They couldn't get a blood pressure in the ER and were losing her so they ran her in to get a d & c. I guess that wasn't good enough and they had to open her up and do an emergent hysterectomy to save her life. We are not a trauma center so it was chaotic for a little while but the staff is extremely skilled. A couple hours later She wheeled in to the PACU on a ventilator. Her husband was informed and he said "well that's good because she hasn't been sleeping very well lately" LOL!!!!!!!
He obviously either did not understand the severity of the situation or was merely coping in his own way. I just don't have anyone to share this traumatic experience with. I'm cool with it though. It was weird having to prep her genital region while blood and tissue were literally pouring it of this woman's vagina. She ended up losing 3 liters of blood. Just wow.
