Any ladies here a phlebotomist??

Question

Hi! I'm starting a phlebotomy course next month and I'm super excited. How was your experience in training or how is your job now? Can you tell me what to expect and something I should definitely avoid? 😊 I'd like to be prepared as posssible!

I did medical assisting and phlebotomy, but I'm not in those fields any longer. Sometimes I do miss venipuncture. It can be a little hard at first to find the vein, but don't give up!

I currently draw blood every day. 23 and not sure what I want to do with life so, it works for now. I work in a super small clinic. 4 people total. I'm lucky but, I love it. I think I just love the place I work though.

It's really not hard at all once you get the hang of it. Most people know that a needle is coming at them and know to hold still. Others jerk around and moan. 🙄

All in all, it's a good job. You get to work with people and have small talk with them the few minutes you're with them.

Just remember, always slide that needle in quickly. Don't go slow... I hear that doesn't feel good.

Currently in school to be an MA, and we do phlebotomy daily, and I love it! Just be calm! Sometimes it can be hard to find a vein, but don't give up! You'll get it. Just be patient and confident. And PLEASE remember each step! Someone in class was doing a butterfly on my hand and left the tube in while she pulled the needle out and gave me an awful hematoma, it hurt like hell. So just remember to do each step!

I took a phlebotomy course a few months ago. It wasn't easy and I was a nervous wreck when it came to sticking but everyone in my class passed the exam so don't stress too much. I'm currently a cna and take blood on a daily basis. It's gotten soooo much easier, but there's going to be patients that you won't be able to stick no matter how much practice you've had
