Is it time to move him to his crib?

Lynne
My son is almost five months and still sleeps in his bassinet in our room. I have been reluctant to move him into his own room because it is across the house and I'm a first time mom and my mind goes to a VERY dark place as I imagine people breaking into the house and stealing him and I can't save him because I'm so far away. My husband thinks I'm crazy.
We have a baby monitor with video so I should be able to watch him but I still freak out. However, I think my son is late to the four month sleep regression game because for the last two nights, he's woken up every two hours. Just three nights ago he slept through the night perfectly! When he wakes up now, he cries and whines until I pick him up and rock him back to sleep (or feed him). This is new, the whole "rock me back to sleep" thing. He's always woke up during the night if he was hungry but not to be consoled back to sleep. This is why I'm thinking about moving him. I'm okay with him trying to get back to sleep on his own but can't do that if he's in our room, crying and fussing and keeping us up.
How did you ladies do the transition? Will my FTM fears eventually subside? Any advice for moving him into his own room? Help! TIA
