Metformin 500mg? 21 weeks pregnant

Question

Anyone else take this? My sugar sometimes is 110 early in the morning when I wake up and doctor wants me to take ONE (500mg) pill every day around dinner time before I sleep.
(So it can regulate my sugars while I sleep?)

What did you guys experience? Did it help? Is it safe for the baby?

I hate taking unnecessary pills.

I'm on glyburide at bedtime for the same reason. Keeping those numbers down is the most important thing right now. GDM isn't a big deal if you can keep your numbers in check, but there can be a lot of nasty complications if you don't.  I'm not a huge fan of meds myself, but I had some GDM complications with my first and I'd do just about anything to prevent going through that craziness again.

I took 1500mg daily through out my pregnancy. I was fine 😊
