How much for babysitting in my home?

I have 10 years of nannying experience and now as a SAHM to a 5 month old, I have been trying to babysit another baby from my home. In the past I got paid anywhere from 10-15$ an hour as a nanny but have been asking for $10 an hour now since it's from my home & I have my own child there. But people are asking to pay $20 a day for 8 hours of care or 3$ an hour! I have been waiting for someone who will pay $10 but am starting to give up. Is this normal for babysitting rates now?? 
*** this is not a daycare though, just a stay at home mom (former nanny) babysitting from my home. Just ONE child so there's not a lot of kids here.

Most in home daycare are by the week around here (small town) it's $95/wk, bigger cities are like $165 a week

I would say like 5 an hour for 1 kid 10 an hour for 2 kids. But $20 a DAY is unreasonable that's barbaric. I would not watch someone else's kid for 8 hours a day for $20 there's so much to watching a kid.

That's very sad ! Where I live that's actually the price if you are doing in your house. People only pay by hour when you go to their house and have only their kids.. I used to pay $100 a 5x week for my babysitter who did at her house and had 2 other kids...

The woman who is babysitting for us when baby comes is charging $25 a day and it goes to $20 when they are older. It probably depends on your cost of living. Most people in my area probably couldn't afford what you're asking.

My daughter goes to a woman who's on maternity leave right now with her 7 month old son, and she charges $35/day.

It depends where you live. I got $500 a week when I was a full time nanny. I didn't have kids and I went to the families house, but I would say you should at least get somewhere around $50 a day. Why don't you ask around what daycares in your area charge? That way you can charge a little less than they are charging, so it makes sense for somebody to use your services!

We go to home daycare. I pay $35/day, but would definitely pay up to like $50 or $60. The woman we go to is just starting her home daycare so has a lower rate, other home daycares here are around $40-50. I think the quality of care is better, and that's why we went with at home vs daycare. That said, home daycares are typically cheaper than daycares here, which start at $73/day. So I do think your rate is a little high. You can always start at a lower daily rate and work your prices up. Our lady takes a one week paid vacation, doesn't charge us if she has to cancel, we pay if we cancel, we provide wipes diapers formula but she'll provide meals when our lo is eating solids. So there are a lot of variables to consider, just throwing out our experience.
