How do I wake up my newborn?

He's 10 days old and when I feeding him he falls asleep a lot so I have to be waking him up. But right now he fell asleep after a bath and hasn't woken up even if it's past his feeding time. Its been 2 and a half hours since I last fed him. He's breathing and he's ok he just gets mad and falls back to sleep.

Feed on demand not on schedule... just as long as he is having enough poopy/wet diapers you are good 👍🏼👍🏼 don't wake a sleeping baby!

If he falls asleep WHILE nursing and you just need to encourage him to suck.. just rub the bottom of his chin.

Changing diapers always worked wonders when my daughter was very sleepy in the first week ot two. She HATED it and would then realise she was very hungry 😀

You can try stripping him down to his diaper to keep him awake while feeding.

Get some wet cotton wool and dap their face. I had to feed my girl every 2 hours around the clock at that age as she was struggling to gain weight. Gently blowing on their cheek helps but she'd soon get used to it. Also make sure they're not too warm as they get cosy and drop off. Obviously don't freeze them but take off some layers. I can remember going into our garden in the middle of winter for a few seconds so she'd wake up! But the wet cotton wool trick worked well.

I wouldn't bother to wake him up unless there is a concern with his weight gain. If you do need to wake him up undressing and diaper changes seemed to work for my twins. One NICU nurse even taught us to get a washcloth dampened with cold water and give them a wipe down when they were being stubborn

Good to know cause I was trying to wake my lil one up after sleeping for 3hrs but she wouldn't budge. She had problems with weight before leaving the hospital and when we went to her wic appt she gained weight.
