too soon for an out of town baby shower?

My husband and I moved almost 4 hours away from our home town about a year ago. All of our lifelong friends and family are from there, so that is where we are having a baby shower. I'm due November 8th (but will have a c-section at 39 weeks due to major complications with my last labor 6 years ago). I'm worried about how hard it will be to travel while super pregnant or being so far away from my primary doctor if something happened, so we are thinking about having it early August when I'm 26-27 weeks.
