how does a baby change you?

I'm quite shy and I was wondering if having a child will make me more confident with myself?
I want to be a good role model and also love myself so my child can see that I just don't think it'll happen.

How did having children change you?

Answer

Becoming a parent causes you to dive deep into yourself and your history. Your forced to face things you may not have realized were there. You start to understand what was good and not good during your childhood and it helps you figure out what type of parent you want to be.

This has helped me become a better person. I'm in therapy working on my issues so my children aren't suffering through them. I'm learning more about myself, becoming confident in who I am, and proud of the life I'm living. The self awareness from therapy has helped me be sure of what I believe in and be un-afraid to voice those beliefs.

Overall pregnancy changed my life because I became a total birth nerd. Becoming a mother helped me find a career I truly love. Everything about motherhood, no matter how difficult, has brought me to a new level. I'm totally happy with my husband, my children, and my life. That happiness let's me live how I please without the worry of upsetting those around me.

Let me start by saying of course everyone is different lol
Having a baby has not changed me . but for me, that's one of the things I'm happy about since I really like who I am and I'm still me just with the added benefit of being a mom.
And I can absolutely see how having a baby can give you that dose of confidence you may be missing . If you are the primary caretaker of your child, you can really feel like super mom when you see the Milestones start to occur because you have a hand in it and it's an incredible thing and you are the guiding hand is allowing your child to thrive.
However, remember that sometimes things are out of your control and you will make mistakes .parenting can be very frustrating and exhausting and you will break down and cry sometimes and you have to be okay with that and remember you're not the only one . so in that way, being a parent can also hurt your confidence. Just go into it with the right mindset.
And if nothing else, the child aside, this is a massive turning point in your life. If you want to make a life change, if you want to change something about yourself , now's the time to do it! Take this big upheaval in your life as an opportunity.
You are about to be a mother and you will be amazing. Start there.

My husband thinks I'm much more open and confident and happy since having a baby. I can't say that I see much difference but it's all good to hear ☺️

I'm a very shy and quiet person, I still like to keep to myself at home with my son, however it has changed me in the way that before I had my son I would never say anything if I didn't like something or disagreed with something. Now if it has even a little bit to do with my child, I will tell whoever it is whatever I think about it good or bad. I put my foot down with everything with my child when before I would just go with the flow and do what everybody else wanted.  I think it's a good change in myself

I wouldn't have a baby to fix myself. That could be potentially dangerous if there are things you don't like about yourself and end up passing them on to your child. BUT if you are already pregnant than yes your world is going to rock. They don't make you more outgoing but they give you motivation and always fill you with love and joy. The satisfaction of knowing that you're responsible for this little learning human is just amazing!!! But if you're not pregnant now, I saw work on yourself first. Read self help books and try to be the person you want to be or look up to. Just mimick it until it becomes a habit, and who you are. That's what I've done. I've faked it until I made it and now I am actually that person!
