How to handle parents getting a divorce as an adult?

I'm 27 and my parents have been married 28 years. My mom decided last week to tell my dad she wants a divorce. I never would have thought it would be this difficult to deal with but it is. Has anyone parents split in their adulthood and how did you manage everything? I feel like I'm in the middle of it.

I was in my early/mid 20s when my mom left my dad. It isn't easy to adjust to such a big life change. My advice is take the time you need to hurt and grieve. It's taken me years to be able to even speak with my mom the same ish as before. It was probably the most painful thing I've ever had to deal with. I'm so sorry that this is happening in your family.

I was in college when my mom moved out. I honestly just stayed out of it as much as possible and carried on my individual relationships with each of them.
