Is this a myth???

Question

My LO is 3 months and 22 days old and he is able to stand in the walker and can go backwards. Everyone in my family is having a go at me for putting him in so early? But i thought  why not push him to do more when he can.

Has anyone else tried is earlier? Please let me know what you think?

I feel like that's too early for him to be in it. I don't see the point in pushing him to do something he's not ready for anyways. Plus, my son's pediatrician recommended against them to begin with. I say talk to the pediatrician. They can give you the best answer.

There's a risk for hip and spine issues when you push them to do more than they're actually developmentally ready for. He's a baby. He'll get bigger and do all those things in due time. No need to rush it.

I think it has something to do with the development of their hips that it's bad to put them in too early. Baby walkers aren't even aloud in Canada because they are supposedly dangerous

I have read and been told by MY doctor that it is not good to put back in a walker in general or at any age, and if you do never for more than 10 mins. Any sort of standing or walking toy i.e. Walker, jumper, excersaucer can cause developmental delays. My friend used a walker for her last baby and he didn't learn to walk til almost 15 months old. Just from seeing that I will never use any of the above, but to each their own.

I heard it's bad for thier hips that early but no idea if that's true or not never asked a dr.

I put them in that early with all three of my babies. We even rigged the last walker so it would sit low enough for him to teach the floor.

It's not good for a baby to walk before crawling. I would encourage tummy time and crawling wel before walking

My currently 4 month old had been in his jumper for over a month, he stands and leans in it. He's so strong, the pediatrician commented how well he was doing physically and said to keep it up. As long as your son is doing it himself, he's capable and you're fine I think.

I put my daughter in at that age too. Im sure your baby will be fine since you're only putting them in a few minutes at a time. I also started my girl in a exersaucer at 3 months, and she kinda looked funny because she didn't kno what to do and her arms were still not very coordinated, but only a WEEK later, there was major improvements. My daughter loved it. Now she'll be a year old on sunday, shes already walking but she skipped the crawling phase. Lol
