My 6 month old soaking wet in the mornings...

So my 6 month old son sleeps in his crib throughout the night. He is still in number 1 diapers. (Huggies) and most of the time when I wake him up he is soaked from like his neck down...And I dont know why. It sometines smells like pee but sonetimes it doesn't...Am I doing something wrong last time I tried number 2 diapers they were too big. I just dont understand...Any mamas know what it could be???
