Found this one Facebook... the picture that you can't see, is the ladies hand with her engagement ring on it, and it's pretty blingy, lol.

Engagement rings have forever been a business made to profit off of marriage. Showing off expensive rings isn't anything new with the technology age.

Yes, marriage should be more than a ring. But hey if people wanna show off their rings, idc. I actually like looking at pretty rings 😂

Ok and? People didn't divorce because it wasn't socially acceptable. Plenty of people stayed in terrible marriages. I don't think that is really a benchmark.

I'm not sure why they're correlating an expensive ring to a bad relationship. My grandparents didn't have a thousand dollars ring, correct. But they hated each other. They may have been married for decades, but they weren't even happy. This just looks like someone being pissed off that people have nice things.

I agree that marriage should be about more than the cost of a ring or attention on social media, but I feel like the person who wrote this is giving too much thought to people's reasoning for posting these things and is running under the assumption that doing so means they don't have an otherwise strong marriage.

2. Maybe they are proud of their ring? Or the gift they got, or they like their nails and want to show it off? Why not?

I agree that most people show an extremely edited/exaggerated/falsified version of their lives on social media...but as for the value of the ring aspect...

I have a $30K+ (don't know exactly how much but have an idea) engagement ring and have never once posted a picture of it on IG. I don't even have a facebook...I only have an IG because I'm a photographer. Most of the successful people I know don't even have social media accounts. I feel like only the most miserable people obsess over things on social media...

TBH I only wear my wedding band most days or nothing at all. I get super annoyed that people think just because someone has nice/expensive things they have to be shallow or unhappy in the other aspects of their lives. Maybe it's just something they say to make themselves feel better. I once had a friend's wife (who has always struggled financially) smuggly say to me that she assumed that I don't like to cook because we "eat out all the time." She saw I had posted pictures of some meals at some pretty expensive restaurants within the past couple months...in actuality, I freaking love to cook and do so almost every night! You never know what's going on behind the "mask" of someone's social media...

Why are people so damn sensitive? It sounds more like the user of that Facebook post is incredibly bitter of something she either hasn't obtained or isn't pleased and satisfied with what she has.

Who cares if someone is show no off their 7k ring with a badass manicure? Who cares if a woman is posting about her relationship with her better half at the half year mark? It's not your relationship so stop sticking your nose in it!

Personally, I love seeing ladies with big ass rings! And their nails are to die for 😂

Stop being bitter and salty and mind your own relationship. Stop being judgemental and jealous 😒

My grandmother showed me the necklace my grandfather got her when they were young. I think it's just a simple and traditional way of saying: I am going to get married, because someone loves me.

Uh...girl there are some cheap thrifty yet gorgeous rings out there, and some real fucking ugly expensive ones. People also have friends in businesses to do with nails. A touch up is cheap and a friend is cheaper still. You don't have to break bank to have a pretty pair of hands and to have a cute ring that is sentimentally valuable to you and yours.
