weight gain in pregnancy

I gained 5 pounds in the first trimester, which I was fine with, then for the next couple weeks I couldn't gain anything, now all of the sudden in half a week I gained 3 pounds. I haven't even been eating any differently! Is 8 pounds too much for 16 weeks?
