New? Absolutely not! Thankfully there is more awareness surround mf police brutality, but it's still an issue that needs to be addressed frequently. The system needs a change. Police departments and law enforcement officers need to be held accountable in every circumstance of brutality.

No, it's just getting more attention due to the fact that average citizens now have a way to record it, and show the rest of the world. I mean except in Chicago. We have no police violence problem here at all, and never have. All hail Rahm! 🙌🏻

Let's take it back to when President Lincoln signed into law slaves were free, and posses and local authorities would brutalize free men, women, and children. You can even look at the treatment of NA during the "Trail of Tears" and the "Bloody Black Hawk War". Police and Government brutality have existed for centuries and has not changed one bit.

Not new Just properly documented now. The citizen hold the power by taping these injustices and hold these people accountable. This has been going on for far to long; many of y'all just woke to it now.

Nope. Not new at all. The police was essentially created for the sole purpose of keeping slaves in line/to catch them if they tried to run away. Law enforcement as been racist and committing police brutality since the day it was conceived. With technology, we just have better ways of documenting it.

It's not new at all. My dad is a cop & although he is a very genuine & sincere cop he works with some that get off on abusing their power. Mainly the young ones who just started.

Definitely not a new Concept. As a white straight passing female I'm not "afraid" of the police but I definitely don't respect them. The few times I have been pulled over or had encounters with cops they haven't been nice or helpful. I totaled my car when I was 16 and police came and the first thing they did is ask me if I was on drugs, I said no I don't do that. They wouldn't believe me and shoved me into the back of their car until the paramedics got there. I'm sitting in the back of this cop car barely conscious, shaking, and crying and what are the cops doing GOING THROUGH MY CAR LOOKING FOR NONEXISTENT DRUGS. After that I stopped giving police respect, doing that was uncalled for.

Not new at all. My bf's uncle was police but it was corrupt as fuck, another officer tried to kill him and the "brother before other" mentality prevented anything from being done about it. So le uncle "Tom" if you will figured he would just work his way up the ranks entirely. He now does private contracting and stuff. Lots of investigations. He didn't want to stop what he was passionate about, which was protecting citizens, but he couldn't do that on the police forces as they're corrupt. Lots of guys and gals go in and they don't change as a person, they just change how they act around higher authority, and no other cop will come out. Lest he wants his head nearly decapitated when the top is ripped apart from his vehicle.

No, I just think social media is able to put a spotlight on the issue now.

It's not a new issue it's an issue that's always been and always was. It's just the way we're seeing it is newer because of cameras, Internet, media; it's being more exposed now today but it's always existed
