need opinion on losing virginity

So I am 14 and I have been dating my boyfriend for a year and two months, and we've been talking about having sex. We've been getting pretty physical the last 5 times he came over. I said that I would only have sex with him if he had protection. We're very close and open with eachother so there wouldn't be any miscommunication with consent or anything. I don't know though, I've only known one girl my age who's lost her virginity. Am I too young ?? Is this a bad decision?? I feel guilty for being too young and I am his first girlfriend but he's not my first boyfriend . Help!
