During your stay at the hospital.. we're you allowed to have a guest stay the night in your room?

My husband's family will be in town, and he will have to stay home with them, but my friend will be visiting, just wondering if anyone knows the rules on guests staying the night. I know each hospital is different but what is the general rule?

Only one guest is allowed to spend the night in my hospital. Occasionally two but it's a rare exception.
