DOG BREED HELP !!

So I'm looking to adopt a dog. I am not super active and all that, but do go on walks every other day, and have a huge yard with a standard fence. I love the personalities and looks of big dogs such as a husky, Doberman,golden retriever,or Aussie. But I love certain smaller pups like corgies and bull terriers. But yippy licky dogs are not my thing. I'd also like an intelligent dog that would also keep me safe. Any help? I'm going to look at my local shelter before I ever go to a breeder
