Plantar's Wart

So I just recently learned that I have a Plantar's wart on my heel and it's becoming very painful. I've bought wart cream to remove it, but I feel like it doesn't do much of anything. Anything else I could try? I would hate to have to get it removed surgically since my health insurance is crap (Thanks, Trump👍🏼) and I can't really afford anything like that.
