Do you become a woman (physically) when you get your first period?

It seems like in certain points of a female's life she's told, "you're a woman now" like when you lose your virginity or get married, but that seems more mentally than physically. I was told, like many girls, that I was a "woman now" because I'd gotten my first period. Do you agree that physically that's when you become a woman? If not, then when do you transition from a girl to a woman?

The transformation begins a couple of years before menarcha. But for me, yes, thats when you biologically becomes a woman.

But psychologic and sociologically, for me, its a little later. I felt as a woman around 17.

I don't think losing your virginty, getting your period, getting married, or having your first kid makes you a woman (or not a woman if you didn't do any of the above) I think it's a personal mental thing, like when you just become mature and who you're meant to be, I don't think it has any correlation to the other stuff unless one of those things is what changed you.

A woman to me is "age" 18+ you have young women you have older women. Under age to me is "girl's" you have young and older girl's. Many cultures have their beliefs of this though....

Technically speaking, it is possible to get pregnant once you have a period. It's not necessarily safe or healthy to do so, though.

In every way besides the ability to get pregnant, no. No one is a woman just because they have a period.

Maybe ages ago when girls would get married, manage a home, make a living, and start having babies shortly after their first period, yes they were women because they had to be.

Not in this day and culture, though. A lot of people don't even seem to be adults these days until 30 or older, even.

Being a woman is a super vague concept with no set meaning for all. Gender is fluid :). If I picked for ME it was around when I moved out, but it was a process not a moment

I was 10 or 11 when I got my period so no I wasn't a woman then.
