Where do you keep your dog?

Question

Inside or outside? We got a new puppy he stays outside. He has his house dog a blanket his little cushion bed food and water. I'm not a fan of having them inside maybe because its a first time for me and he will pee and poop inside. I want to learn how to train him but i also have a 9 MO its hard. Sometimes i tell my husband why did you get a pet. I feel like he needs alot more of attention and someone to play with. I feel like i dont have that time. I cook clean take care of my baby. Run Erns. But i love my puppy i just feel that he needs the time and attention. Idk what to do guys? Any advice plse. And no rude comments!!!

I don't understand why people get dogs if they're just going to keep them outside all the time. My dogs are a part of my family. They're not allowed on the bed and they don't get any table scraps. We set boundaries for them, just like you do with children. House breaking is not that difficult.. it just takes time and patience, which it sounds like you guys aren't ready for.

Our six-year-old German Shepherd was strictly an outside dog before we rescued him from our local Humane Society. He had no idea that he was even allowed inside of our house, and while he never had any accidents, for the first few months that we had him, he was skittish about staying inside. 
Now, he is completely comfortable inside, and we do allow him on the furniture, and he does sleep with us at times.
If you have no intentions of fully accepting this dog into your family, and allowing the puppy to live inside with you, then I highly suggest you rehome him to a family that will actually give him the love and care that he needs.
Keeping a dog outside like a yard decoration is a shitty thing to do. Unless that dog is specifically trained to live outside, and is equipped to do so, such as sled dogs and other working dogs, keeping it outside is poor animal ownership.
Training puppies takes time, and patience. If you don't have time and patience, then you have no business taking care of that puppy.

My personally I feel like if a pet isn't part of your family, you shouldn't have one. I can't imagine having an animal let alone a puppy that spends all day and all night outside.
Of course he will have a couple of accidents in the house at first, but that's why you train them.... they catch on fast.
Depending on the temperature where you live, making him stay outside is abuse.

I've never had an outside dog and I never will. If I didn't have the time to train a dog to not pee and poop inside, then I wouldn't have a dog. They deserve attention and love... if you can't give your dog that then maybe you should consider giving the dog away... the dog is young and deserves to get attention and become part of a family

I keep both of my puppies next to me almost the whole time I'm home. 🤷🏼‍♀️ They're my first pups ever. I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️

My dogs and cats live inside. Your pets should be a part of your family. Yes, puppies and even grown dogs are a lot of work, they require exercise, love and attention. Please either bring the poor thing inside and find time for it or find another home for it. Keeping it outside and isolated is cruel.

My dog lives inside. If you have a puppy you really need to pay attention to it, give it the proper social interactions and train it, which is going to be hard to do with it outside. If not, you're asking for a difficult dog that may have a lot of problems down the road.

Buy a crate or baby gate and keep him in you kitchen or somewhere that's easy to clean up if he makes a mess. Your husband should be helping too. Hire a trainer if you can't make the time but this is how a lot of innocent dogs end up in pounds and I wouldn't want to see that for your new addition.

For those questioning why people get dogs just to keep them outside....

Well we have two dogs, a 7 year old black lab and 2 year old brittany spaniel.

Our dogs are inside at night, in our room, on their own beds.

During the day our spaniel is outside (weather pending) and our lab comes and goes.

Our spaniel is a trained hunting dog whom we rescued 6 months ago when his owner no longer felt he was doing his job. He wasn't pointing long enough, he would simply flush resulting in the hunter losing the shot. He lived in a 10x10 outdoor kennel since birth as he was specifically born to hunt. When we rescued him we tried to transistion him to being a full time indoor dog but that's not what he knows. He loves being outside and although he isn't inside with us 24/7, he can live his life as one of our family members... happy and healthy!

A dog can be outdoors with a responsible owner, when the right set up is provided!

We show him just as much love as our lab!

It's sounds like you weren't 100% onboard with a new pet from the beginning. It's super unfair that your hubby put you in this position especially when you are the one provide the majority of its care.

My husband and I have a dog. He's our fur baby and he stays inside with us. I think it's incredibly unfair to isolate your puppy from the family. Dogs NEED to be socialized properly early on.

My husband and I want a second dog but we're holding off until we have the time to dedicate to training and socializing.

I think you should talk to your husband and explain that this situation is not fair to you or to the puppy. 
I hope you can work something out so that puppy gets what he needs and it does not create a burden for you.
But ultimately if you cannot ghandle be this puppy the attention he needs he should be rehomed to somewhere he can get what he needs.
