If someone asks you if you're addicted to anything do you include addictions you've recovered from?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question and if I worded it confusing but I'm curious about this. The addiction I suffered with still effects me currently because I think about it and seek counseling for it still.

One outside of those ur seeking help to help u thru ur addiction and maybe family if u use family as a support system your addiction is no ones business. If anyone asks bout ur addiction u do not need to disclose anything unless ur comfortable. This is personal in my opinion. If u want to share or sharing helps u heal by all means share but if it's more something only those super close to u know then I wouldn't tell a soul.

I think it depends on who's asking and if you're currently clean and sober, you have every right to privacy. It's up to you what you choose to disclose to people. Some people you might not have a choice. For instance, if you were applying for a job that does background checks and you have a criminal record as a result of your addiction, like possession, attempt to manufacture, selling or DUI/DWI. The truth is going to come out eventually, and you'd be better off being honest and explaining your situation to them so there are no surprises. Some employers may take that as a sign that you're unstable, at risk for relapsing, and they may view you as a potential liability to their company. Others may be willing to overlook your past mistakes, and they may value your honesty and transparency. If not, and there's nothing on your record, you have every right to privacy. Friends and family, probably already know or suspect and may be in a position to help you, and so it's important to be honest with them because a good strong support system really helps, but how can they help you if they don't know you're struggling? Same with doctors/counselors.  They're trying to help you, so why not let them help you by opening up. Other people... it's not always crucial or nessesary to explain to them. I'd say, only if it helps you or will help you in the long run.

I do. I say it all the time lol. I mean addiction stays with you forever kind of. At least for me, the thought will always be there.
