Injured on duty

My man is national guard and was over seas for a month long training and badly sprained his ankle while there. He has been on crutches for the last 2 weeks so hasn't been able to work since he works in a factory. They army called and said they are not sure if they are going to be able to pay him for the time he has been off work due to the injury he sustained during the training. How come the army doesn't have a workers comp style thing? do you really just get fucked over like this? Has anyone ever delt with something like this and revived a pay check while off work. We are not really in a financial situation where we can go without a pay check for 2 weeks 😞
