are greyhounds good dogs?

Question

My beautiful dog, Princess, is going to be put down soon, due to her illnesses, and mum doesn't ever want to be without a dog, so she's doing research into other breeds now.

We have adopted from a shelter before. The dog we adopted, Otto, was a staffy, and whilst he was good to us, we couldn't trust him around other dogs, there were many health complications and the shelter was sketchy.

Mum is a bit reluctant to go to a shelter again, but she's found a greyhound rescue facility, and she would like to know about people's experiences with greyhounds, especially ex-racing ones if you have them xx

They are very energetic and they love to play and they need a lot of outside time but freely to run but they are loving animals

My friend actually just got a retired racing grayhound and she is obsessed with him. I think they're good if you want a dog that's content to lounge around all day because that's what most of them seem to do, and he's really thankful to have a nice caring family. And he wears a little coat outside cause he's so skinny 😩😩😩😩 he's so cute.

This is my greyhound Harvey, he's super lazy as long as he has a walk, he loves snuggles, never leaves my side and is a wonderful doggy for our little man, we also have a rabbit and he's never been bothered by her! We also have a black lab who's very hectic and he plays with him but also tells him when enough enough! Hahah! I've had greyhounds all my life and they have all been super lazy all ex racers, Harvey here was a top dog at Wimbledon his racing name was 'rampant dave' but I think Harvey's a lot more suitable! Especially as my husbands called David! Hahha! X

My friend use to have one and he would tear the house apart when they left. Super energetic in this case. He would like rip apart the pillows etc.

I've heard they have very delicate skin, but are also completely odorless. I'd love a greyhound, they're so classy looking!

Very active dogs but they're so sweet! I know racers take a lot of extra work though but it's worth it.
I'm also gonna suggest a Chinese crested in case she chooses to go a different direction. They remind me of Italian greyhounds a bit and they seriously are the most amazing dogs I've ever owned & worth looking into. Bald is beautiful rescue has dogs all over the US.😊 if she wants something bigger, the xolo is also a good option.
