A little too much?

So I took my daughter to the hospital yesterday for a relatively high fever and I felt they did a bit more things than usual. They gave her a catheter and put her up on a monitor. My daughter was traumatized and I felt like crap putting her though that but I was worried since she had a temperature of 102.5. Did I do wrong?

My daughter had a fever of 104.7 when she was three. She was so dehydrated she couldn't pee and refused to go potty. We had to hold her down to get one in and her BLADDER WAS EMPTY. It was for nothing.

Worse..

It was her birthday.

It isn't overkill if you're genuinely concerned. She's still little, I understand.

Poor thing. When my daughter was 11 months she had a high fever like 104 and it was just a virus she had but of course they needed a urine specimen and wanted to Catherize her. I was like heck no! I was worried about her being traumatized as well.  They did let me a clean catch on her and fortunately I didn't need to cath her but honestly I think back and I think she would of been fine. She wouldn't have remembered plus needles are more traumatizing than that.  So I think you r fine for letting them but if you don't want them to do something to your baby you are allowed to refuse

That's what they normally do for babies with fevers at the ER. Before I brought my baby home after delivery the hospital pediatrician told us that if she has a fever a catheter is normal as well as a lot of interventions so to make sure she's not exposed to anything. Better safe than sorry

She will be fine. It's best to make sure baby is okay with that high if temperature
