What is the purpose of Rock and Plays?

We just got a gift card to Kohls and I don't know how to spend it. I know rock and Plays are the latest greatest thing but what are they for? I am getting a swing and I have a bassinet and bouncer. Would the rock and play serve any purpose for me? Or why do you prefer the rock and play over other things?

I love our rock n play. It was easy to move it from room to room when I was cleaning or showering or getting ready.

Your baby will either be happy with the swing n bouncer or with the rock n
Play. My 1st baby lived and napped in it and it's so easy to move from room to room. He didn't care much for the swing. My 2nd baby didn't use the rock n play at all. So it depends on your kid. As a parent, I prefer the rock n play because of its versatility and transportability(if that's a word).!😆

Basically a life saver lol. My daughter sleeps in hers sometimes when her reflux is bothering her. Plus it's portable to take around the house for chores as well as to other people's houses for the afternoon or whatever. I don't know that I'd survive without mine, and I was very against it at the beginning.

Save the gift card for after the baby arrives. Things will come up that you need or want & will be so thankful to have it then. You can also see if you need/want a rock n play or if what you have is good

I got one to put beside our bed in our bedroom because that's where the baby will be at first.. but you have a bassinet so I don't really see you needing it. I trust the pack n play more than a bassinet though and they can use it way longer.

It's amazing. My sons favorite thing ever. Get the one that plugs in so it can rock by itself and use music to calm them.

I loved it because my daughter napped in it, and it was easily portable so I could move it from room to room, or I could take it with me if i were going out to somebody else's house, and I wouldn't have to worry about her sleeping in the carrier or not getting a nap.

It's in the same category as a swing or bouncer. They are not approved for unsupervised sleep like cribs or bassinets

We never got one. Baby was perfectly happy with his swing/bouncer.
