Separating kids with free lunch?

Similar topic to my last, this has to do with schools separating kids based on certain characteristics. 
Do you think it is fair to make a separate line for kids who get free lunch? 
At my middle school they did this. There was a free lunch line and a regular lunch line. Parents complained that the lines were too long and wanted them separate and the school listened.

No. That's not cool at all. I didn't even know I got free lunches until I tried to pay and the woman at the register said it was free. It was embarrassing and I think it's cruel to do something like that.

Of course they should be separated! How else will the other children know who to mock for being poor?!

Seriously though, every child in my city already gets a free lunch. It should be national policy.

Long lines aren't a matter of free lunch, it's a matter of poor design by the school because eve if those kids weren't receiving free lunch then the other line would be 'too long'.

They need to open more lines not separate based on a program.

My high school had between four and six lines. I'm pretty sure it was six. And I think four lunch periods. None of the lines were special program limited. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's against the law in the US to indicate if a child receives reduced or free lunch. The person and/or district could get in trouble.

No way! I got free lunches and if they did this at my school I probably would have been too embarrassed to even eat.

Everyone at my sons school gets free breakfast and lunch anyway. I'm dreading when we have to switch counties because I don't think the other offers that.

We didn't have free lunch at my elementary school (private daycare through 8th grade) but we did in my high school. There were always long lines because we got 25 minutes to eat and about 550 people in each lunch period. We had 10 different food option lines (chef line-the chef for the brewers did specialty meals for our school-were the most expensive, the premade sub line, Mexican, the traditional school food line-which is what the free lunch kids could have and was their only option-, the pasta line, the fried food line-kids with reduced lunch got this stuff almost free along with the traditional stuff-, the pizza line, soup line, premade salads, then there were two salad and fruit bars at either end and an ice cream cooler. Grab and go chips and drinks at the registers)and 6 check out lines. If you didn't have any money on your account there were two lunch ladies at the end registers who would just remind you and let you go eat your lunch and wouldn't say a word to you about not eating. It happened to me all the time where I'd forget to bring a check for weeks and my mom would get so pissed lol. But for those kids that were struggling they were life savers. As for lines being too long they're probably cramming too many kids in one space. There were days lunch was already over by the time I was checking out. It has nothing to do with the free lunch kids. It had everything to do with the over population of our high school.
