Pain,Spotting

So I am on birth control and just put my new patch on for the week. Now I put it on a day late because my patches didn't come in yet. Anyway ever since I have been spotting I guess you could say. I will go to the bathroom and I will have a little bit of blood in my underwear but then for the rest of the day it stops, I am also having really bad back pain and cramps. I don't know if I am starting my period or what but I find it weird that I am bleeding a little then stopping
