upset over nothing?

So I told my boyfriend of 6 months that I loved him more than I'd ever loved anyone the the other night, and his response was "thanks for the compliment". I know he loves me and we've talked about a future together but I often forget that he was in a four year relationship before me and has expererienced all of this before, whereas I've only been in a lot shorter relationships. Am I right to be upset or should I just get over it?
