Anyone taking 1000mg of metformin?

My morning fasting numbers were still in the low 100's despite every possible effort to diet control them and take 500mg of metformin twice a day. The rest of my numbers were very manageable though after starting 500mg of metformin twice a day.

Yesterday my doctor said she still didn't like my morning fasting so at dinner I take 1000mg of metformin. Last night it kept me awake I was so sick. I was nauseated, dizzy, and had stomach cramps so bad I thought I was contracting. My numbers were only at 80 something throughout the night but now my morning fasting number is 117, higher than it was on 500mg.

Has anyone else had this experience? Did it last long or is my body just getting used to the medication? I'm struggling over here and my poor baby already weighs over 5lbs at 32 weeks.
