Should I live in a dorm when I go to college or get an apartment?

I'm having troubles figuring out what I should do and would love another opinion besides my moms. Which she's pushing dorms since she had this magical college experience and now has life long friends.

Try the dorms for a year. Where I went each dorm had a different vibe. If you don't like it then try a different one or move out the next year.

I was in a dorm for a year and hated it, the very next year I got an apartment with a couple of girls I'd become close to in my hall who also didn't like dorms. When I transferred universities I moved into an apartment with my best friend and some random roommates (the apartment complex matched stuff to based on study habits, social preferences, lifestyle preference, such as workout habits, cooking habits, cleaning habits etc). Honestly, I was grateful for the dorm experience my first year because it got me really used to campus and allowed time for me to adjust to living independently. I hated it. But I was glad I did it. You can still make amazing memories and form incredible friendships by living in an apartment, though. And you definitely have more freedom, which a lot of kids don't handle well at first. Go with your gut.

When you live in a dorm, you can really bond with other students. I didn't always like having a roommate, but I enjoyed being friends with the other girls on my floor

Living in the dorms allows you to meet a lot of friends and people who are also on your major. And if yo glove in an apartment, you'll more than likely miss out on a lot of events that happen on campus. Plus it's more convenient because everything is right on campus and close by 
Depending on your school, you should look at the suite style dorms. Kinda like an apartment...you'll have your own bathroom, common area, and little kitchen but you'll probably still have a roommate

Dorms fucking suck , too many rules, RAs be buggin , can't be loud after certain HORRIBLE - felt like I was still at my moms 😂😂 if u have an option do yourself a favor and get an apartment of your own .
