Cervix checking - painful?

Question

I will be almost 36 weeks when I go in a week and a half to my Dr appt which he mentioned they start checking.

Is it painful? Is it as uncomfortable as a pap smear or worse 😣

There's no reason to do a cervical exam. It introduces the risk of infection and premature membrane rupture. It also cannot tell you when you'll go into labor

I had a dr check my cervix at 24 weeks when I had a surprise trip to L&D, he said it would be uncomfortable, but really it wasn't bad. Less uncomfortable than a pelvic exam or Pap smear and much, much quicker!

I remember it was painful when I was in labor for my first, but don't remember if it was painful any other time I was checked.

I had my first cervical check a week ago and I didn't feel anything, I was so nervous it was going to be painful and uncomfortable but nope! I didn't even know my doctor was doing it, and it only took about 15 seconds! He talked to me the whole time so my mind was preoccupied

Had one at 32 weeks and it was horribly painful. Had one at 36 and wasn't nearly as bad, just uncomfortable

I had one done and it felt like a pap.. but I'm not dilated yet so idk if the pain comes once your dilated? The doctor warned me it would be very painful.

Not bad at all! Had it today and didn't hurt, just some pressure.
