croup ???

Question

My 9month old was completely fine all day until around 8:30pm we noticed he had "lost his voice". When looking it up online it says he has croup but obviously I'm not sure. I'm scared and now even my throat is feeling sore. I just hope my baby is okay and will be able to breathe through the night. Anyone experience this? There should be no reason he lost his voice. He's not sick and he acts like everything is okay.

All three of my boys have had croup many times. My eldest seems to get it the worst requiring steroids and breathing treatments and once very seriously. Croup peaks on day three so that's the worst of it. It's always bad at night and during the day she will be just fine. During the night cold air helps (which really is only great in the winter time when you can bring them outside to breathe and open the airway more) but steam also helps so run a hot shower of it gets bad and bring her in there. I use IBprofren when it gets bad because their airway gets very sore from the coughing and it reduces swelling. Honestly often it's not as bad as it sounds. If you can get through night 3, you are going to be just fine. Often I'll sit there trying to decide whether to go to the hospital until morning when everything is fine. You'll get through it.

My daughter had Croup around 9 months also. She had a barking cough, congestion and I can tell she was in pain so we ended up taking her to the hospital and good thing we did because we found out she had an ear infection also. They gave her medicine and we bought her a humidifier and within a week, she was all good. Prayers for your little one.
