Communication problems
So my boyfriend and I and generally amazing at communication (we're in an LDR so we sort of have to be). But now I'm having an issue. He's supposed to be coming to see me this weekend after not having seen each other in over a month (which is a short time for us- generally it's every 4-6months). So I've been super excited and really really happy to the point my co-workers think I've been drinking way too much coffee. Anyways, due to a work thing he's not coming anymore. I've been really upset ever since he told me last night. I was at work when he told me so it wasn't a long conversation and I basically hung up on him (I actually did have to go immediately though). He could tell I was upset and he's texted and called me a few times. I've been working so I haven't responded.
Now I'm just scared to call him back or even text him. We went through a really hard time last year and I'm feeling like I did then (but not quite as bad). I don't really know how to even express how I'm feeling in words honestly. I'm disappointed, but I also sort of feel neglected and unimportant. Which is honestly ridiculous because I completely understand why he can't come this weekend. I've been trying to ignore the feelings, but that's not working so I know I need to talk to him about it. I just don't know how. I don't know how to explain my feelings other than 'remember how I felt last year when you basically ripped my heart out? Yeah that's how I feel'. And that'll just hurt him a lot and I don't want to hurt him because this isn't his fault at all.
I'm working the night shift tonight so I can only text him and when I'm off he's working tomorrow during the day. I don't think texting how I'm feeling is a good idea, but part of me feels that it might help me organize my thoughts first so I don't say something that'll hurt him unintentionally. Does anyone have any advice on how to talk to him about how I'm feeling? I don't want to hurt him but I don't know how to explain it any other way!
Thank you!
